Join Preble as she teaches the assembly and painting of this adorable cozy cottage with arch type windows with diamond pane mullions, a tiny room for bathroom or whatever, an open loft with ladder, and open plan living/dining/kitchen area. The class involves several painting techniques, staining, assembly of laser cut kit, using sticker style pre-cut wallpaper, and simple window box landscaping.
The Buttercup Cottage is inspired by artwork on a gift bag. This is a laser cut updated version of what Preble created in miniature over twenty years ago. Buttercup Cottage Yellow paint will be provided in the kit.
The first session will be on assembling windows, doors, shutters and painting all the pieces needed. This will allow time in between sessions if the student is not able to finish these during the class.
Students are encouraged to have furnishings for the tiny room ready before second session since it will be hard to access once the second floor goes on.
The second session will be assembly of the house including the small room, installing the second floor, applying stucco, finishing of roof and landscaping the window boxes.
Techniques included: painting: faux stucco, dry-brushing, and staining, assembling a laser cut kit, using sticker type wallpaper, simple landscaping and applying shingles
Materials Needed: Students will need Craft knife, Scissors, Tweezers, Wood glue, Clamps 6”, CA glue gel (super glue), Pencil, Ruler, Squaring jig, Spatula/palette knife, Stain pen in Golden oak, Sanding stick and sandpaper, Durable Clear Varnish like Satin or Gloss for Sealer, Paint brushes, Paper tape (blue tape), cornstarch or talc, double ball stylus
Paint colors I used: Americana Forest Green, Ceramcoat Oyster White, Ceramcoat Brown Iron Oxide, Ceramcoat Bridgeport Grey. Only Buttercup Cottage Yellow will be provided in kit
